Around a tall, thick tower of Abernon castle, a deep, purple, nearly black dragon perched upon its peak. The tail of the giant beast wrapped around the length of the tower, and the muscular legs gripped the stone bricks, chipping them. Perched upon its back, in a place where the spikes traveling down it's spine did not reach, sat a rider, her black hair furling out behind her in the gusty wind. She sat upon the female dragon leisurly, it appeared, one hand resting upon a sword at her waist, and the other gripping a spike. Maryn, rider of Morna, was taking watch. Guards along the battlements below also stared out across the town of Abernon, stretched out before the castle. They too had been put on watch.
Well, Morna. Would you like to do something else? After all, we weren't really assigned watch. The dragon turned her neck to stare at Maryn. Hmm. I suppose we could fly around a bit, maybe scout further out. I could use some open air. Maryn smiled, something only seen by her closest friend, Morna. As you wish, then. Lets take to the sky! Releasing a loud bugle, Morna unfurled her massive wings from around the tower, then kicked away from the structure, flinging herself upwards. As her wings pumped downwards, the guards on the battlements waved farewell to her. Maryn raised a hand in return, then hunkered down in her saddle to get away from the wind. Morna flew quickly away from the castle, until they were flying above open grassland. A glint further off in the sky caused Maryn to narrow her eyes. What is that? she asked Morna. The dragon began to fly a bit slower as they approached the glint. Perhaps it is a bird, or maybe that other rider? Maryn nodded. She had heard of the other rider that had hatched one of the eggs. However, she had never seen him, or her, before. It would be interesting to meet the other Vardan rider. Come on, Morna. Let us approach whatever this is. Morna growled an affirmitive, then began a slow glide towards the far off glint.

Jamie and Elu were flying wondering where they were needed. Jamie had gotten used to Elu and he her. Elu grew to gigantic size which to anyone would be a terrifying sight to behold to see a gigantic pure white dragon of his size come out of no where. Jamie knew of a war that was currently going to start or something that was suddenly going to start and she could feel something going on.
"Jamie you seem nervouse about something. Could you possibly tell me what is on your mind?" asked Elu who didn't turn his head to look at her.
"I feel something is going to happen and I don't know what and that is troubling me. I am surprised that you let Elisa to come on you it just surprises me." said Jamie.
"Its no problem really its just nothing for me to do and plus Elisa is as light as you are well maybe well light wise." said Elu who kept flying his white wings large and gracefull.
"Hey whats that up ahead. It looks to be something like a crow or something that is dark and flying. What do you suppose it is?" asked Jamie.
"It could be none dangerouse but we should be careful. Remember that the varden had, had another young person come and become a rider? Well it could be them but its a very very low possibility." said Elu.
"Why don't you head downward towards that clearing over there and we can give you a break along with eating something." said Jamie. Elu nodded and glided downward.

Maryn narrowed her eyes as the distant object began to descend. Perhaps that meant it wanted peace. Allright, Morna, lets follow it. Morna hummed her agreement. Dipping her head, Morna entered a deep dive. Her translucent wings snapped tightly to her body, allowing the dive to be quicker and more steep. Maryn sat back in the saddle, creating a more stream line figure. Eventually, the ground came up before them, and Morna unfurled her large wings, halting the steep descent. Now, the enigmatic figure was clearly visible, and Morna landed lightly before the other dragon, who was a bit bigger than herself. You were right, Morna. It is another rider.
Maryn stared across at the other rider, a girl like herself. The dragon she sat upon was impressive, massive and pure white. Its legs and neck were thicker than Morna's, which caused Maryn to assume it was male. Remaining in the saddle, Maryn hailed the other rider. "Well met, rider. May I ask your name and allegiance?" Her face remained un-emotional, except for the slight furrow of her arched eyebrows. Below her, Morna sniffed the air.

Jamie saw the figure come out of the sky and land near her and Elu. It was a dark purple near black dragon who was a little smaller then Elu and very elegant. the legs and neck were thinner making it to be possibly a female.
"My name is Jamie this is Elu we are of allegiance is of the varden. My wolf is Elisa." said Jamie who swung her long hair behind her and the two long strips of blue on the side of her head moved back as well. The hair that was covering her mark of the wolf paw, that was in the center of her forehead, was now gone and the paw was now visible.
"May I ask who you are, rider and magnificent dragon?" asked Jamie.

As the woman swept back her luxurious hair, Maryn noticed the pointed ears. An elf, she noted. But the most striking feature of all was that of a paw emblazoned on her forehead. Such a strange marking! What do you think it means? she asked Morna. The dragon studied the elf as well. Perhaps it is nothing. However, look at the wolf she travels with. Blue fur? Strange indeed. Taking her eyes away from the strange marking, Maryn focused back on the elf's face. "Yes, you may. I am Maryn Elwin, and the dragon I ride upon is Morna. We, too, serve the varden. I must say, it is a pleasure to meet you." She inclined her head, showing due respect. Below her, Morna shifted her weight to her right side while studying the white dragon. She attempted to speak to the other. Well met, Elu. Forgive me if this is an odd question, but why do you travel with a blue wolf? I find it quite strange. She stepped a bit closer to her fellow, rather excited to finally meet another of her kind. She didn't realize that Maryn was asking the same question. "Your wolf, Elisa. Why is she blue?" Maryn swept her gaze across the strange wolf. Perhaps the elf, Jamie, had altered it. The thought was disturbing.

"Well when I found her and her pack who raised me when I was younger she was silver but because her breed of wolf changes color of what kind of element they were born near. I don't know how it works but apparently she was born near a lake or some sort." said Jamie.
"I travel with a blue wolf because she is Jamie's other friend and pet. I know its queer but its how we survive." said Elu who responded to Morna. He was beginning to flick the tip of his tail awkwardly.
"So what brings you here maryn and Morna?" asked Jamie who unstrapped her legs and slid down Elu and had him bend down so she could take the saddle off of him and he laid down like a cat and curled around Jamie.

Maryn nodded, accepting Jamie's words, even though they were indeed strange. "Oh, I see. I've never been to duweldenvarden myself, so I really don't know how the wildlife is around those parts." Her eyes were drawn to Elu's tail, which twitched up and down. It didn't seem hostile, but rather nervous. This was probably his first encounter with another dragon as well. As Jamie dismounted, Maryn considered doig the same. However, she wasn't ready to stop here, as she and Morna were currently scouting. "Morna and I were scouting around Abernon, making sure there was no threat heading towards the capital. When we saw Elu in the distance, we decided to investigate what or who you were. I'm glad we did. It is good to meet another rider." Her words were at odds with her face, as she didn't really seem very glad, merely somber.
Ah, I see. No, it is not so strange. If Maryn had another companion, I would welcome him or her as well. She watched Elu curl around Jamie, then spoke to Maryn. Are we going to stop here? Perhaps you should befriend this elf. It would be good for you. Morna sank down, laying on her legs and curling her tail around her body. Maryn considered Morna's words. Perhaps. However, it would probably be best not too. At the thought of becoming close to another person, Maryn flinched inwardly. Besides Morna, everyone else she had ever grown close to had died. She did not want to inflict her bad luck upon someone else, especially a rider. Besides, we have more scouting to do. Morna shook her head, saddened by Maryn's opinion of herself.

"Hmm, You know we could help you do scouting tomorrow if you want us to. We could use some company anyway but by the looks of it your busy at the moment. We were just heading to the capital but we are resting for the rest of the time for we just left Du weldenvarden three days ago." said Jamie.
"Maybe you could tell the king that we would be able to help him if needed." said Jamie.
"To bad you have to go so soon. I would have liked to get to know you more." said Elu to Morna.

Morna nodded to Elu. Yes, I as well would have enjoyed the company of another dragon. However, Maryn has a firm set of values, and duty to the varden is one of them. You understand. Rising from her crouch, Morna spread her wings and prepared for flight.
Maryn thought of Jamie's offer. "Sure, why not? I will meet you here again tomorrow, in the morning. I will alert the king of your impending arrival. Farewell, Rider Jamie. Until the morrow." Bowing in the saddle, she bid good bye. Digging her talons into the earth, Morna then launched herself into the sky, speeding up and away with a gust of wind. Really, Maryn, you should not be so somber. Maryn watched the rider and dragon grow smaller and smaller as they gained alltitude. Maryn allowed herself to sag in the saddle. I know. But I really can't help it. It's just how I am around people. She absently touched the hilts of her two swords, Mor'ranr and Andlat. She wondered if the wielders' of these swords had been as serious and somber as she was. Doubt it she thought sullenly. Morna angled back twoards Abernon, her scales glinting darkly in the afternoon sunlight.
An hour later, Morna touched down in one of the castle courtyards. Soldiers and guests passing through hurried to make way for the dragon, bowing as they did so and muttering titles, such as "argetlam" and "shur'tugal". Maryn nodded to them, acceptint the praise. Unbuckling her leg straps, she slipped down Morna's side and landed lightly upon the packed earth. I'll be back here as soon as I'm done with the king. Morna dipped her head and bumped Maryn's shoulder with her snout. Of course. Patting the dragons nose, Maryn set off into the castle. Her shoes tapped against the marbel corridors as she made her way to the kings corridors, until finally she halted before his door. Two guards were stationed outside it. Realizing who she was, they bowed deepy and muttered simultaneously, "Rider." She inclined her head to them in return, her black hair slipping over her shoulder. "I have a message for the king. It's important, else I wouldn't have bothered to come myself." The guard at the right nodded. "Of course. Right this way." He opened the door and steped through, Maryn following after him. She bowed to the king, then relayed her message. "My lord, I met another rider on my scouting across Surda. She is of the Varden, rider of the white egg we once had in our possesion. Maybe you remember her. She is coming from DuWeldanvarden." She rose from her bow and let her eyes rest upon the Surdan king.

Jamie nodded to the other dragon rider and bowed back at her in respect.
"Till morrow. I will be there. I promise as my duty of a dragon rider of the Varden I will be there." said Jamie.
"Yeah I know what you mean. So does Jamie she has been working for them for a while and she is stricked but when she isn't she can be funny and fun to hang with." said Elu.
They watched as the other rider flew away. Jamie wanted to get close to people but she couldn't stand it that it was so hard for her. Elu wanted that company as much as she did and that he wanted to visit with his own kind as well but it was hard because so far in exsistance so far there were only two dragons that hatched so far.
"Elu I was wondering if you wanted to talk about Morna and maryn. Its just I want the company and I know you do to but it seemed that Maryn wanted to have that too but something heald her back besides her duty as a rider for the varden. I mean I know how much you wanted to talk with another dragon but if you ever needed to talk to me you know you can." said Jamie.
"Jamie you know I will and that you will always be my closest friend and family I have ever had and will ever have. I will always come to you to talk. Now you need food which we have in your pack but I will go hunting. You eat you look to peeky since you hardly ate today." said Elu.
"Thanks Elu." said Jamie and she smiled.

The king sat in his throne, staring at her with bright eyes. "Aye," he said in a hearty voice, "remember her I do. She looked a good candidate, as I remember. Of course, as soon as that egg hatched she returned immediately to Du Weldenvarden." He brought a hand to his chin and tapped it with his finger. "Hmm. Well, I suppose we should get her a room ready. I'll have some of the servants work on that. In the meantime, I would suggest you return to her, as a guard to the castle. We would not want our white rider to think we did not care."
Maryn listened closely to the king's words. At the last, she bowed once more, then made her leave. That went well, she mentioned to Morna. After a few halls and coridors, she stepped back out into the sunlight, where the purple dragon was waiting for her, sitting upon her haunches. Ready? Maryn asked.
Raising to her feet, Morna shuffled her wings and looked upon Maryn with one amethyst eye. Yes, quite ready. I look forward to spending more time with Elu. Maryn nodded. Yes, I know you are. Walking to Morna's side, Maryn vaulted onto the dragon's wide back. With quick fingers she fastened the leg straps and buckles, then patted Morna's neck, signaling she was ready. Flaring her wings, Morna crouched, then leapt upwards with a downward swipe of her large wings. In only a few seconds, they had gained much altitude, and the abernon castle was merely a speck below them.
By the time Maryn and Morna had reached Jamie and Elu again, dusk was just setting, casting the sky a firey orange. Morna landed than ran a few steps to slow her momentum. She came to a final halt a few feet before Elu. Raising her head, the dragon released a short bugle, happy to be back. Maryn smiled unconsciously at her dragon's obvious pleasure. However, when she looked to Jamie, she carefully let the smile fade. Unbuckling her leg straps, she leapt to the earth and walked towards the elf.
"The king sent us back. He wanted you to have a guard the rest of the way to Abernon." She shrugged, "although I don't think you would have really needed one." Glancing at the sinking sun, Maryn nodded to herself. "I'll take first watch tonight, and wake you up later."

"Elu you know I thought about a few things and wondered what gender the other two dragons were. Although it is none of my busnis but it was just a curiouse thought." said Jamie to her dragon who was curled around her and the fire that she had built to keep her warm, although Elu did keep her warm.
"Hmm if I really wanted to know I would try to find more people for the dragons. But then again i don't know but I am as curiouse as you are." said Elu.
Jamie smiled at Elu and continued to looke into the fire. She wanted to tell him what was on her mind but she knew that he already knew her heart. Elu and Jamie had gotten close, closer then anyone ever got and that was what she really wanted more then ever. Jamie turned to face Elu who looked at her with his deep silver eyes that told her that he knew what she felt.
Suddenly Maryn and Morna came through the sky and landed near them. Jamie could feel Elu's excitment as he again saw the other dragon.
"Thats fine. Well he is concerned and I understand. Thats fine with me if you want to take first watch its up to you." said Jamie who went to her bag and got some blankets and layed them down one for her and the other one for Maryn if she wanted it.
"Maryn you may have this blanket if you want I had carried two just in case so you may use it." said Jamie.
"So when did you hatch? I hatched about two, three years ago." Elu said with excitment.

Maryn glanced at the blanket. In her haste to get back here, she had completely forgotten to bring such things. Go on, Morna said, nudging Maryn's shoulder, Take it. It's just a blanket. Glancing at the deep purple dragon, Maryn considered the pros and cons of accepting the blanket. If she took it, she would be warm, and comfortable. But, she might also be hindered by it if they were suddenly attacked, and the warmth might cause her to fall asleep. Morna suddenly snarled. Take it! she nearly shouted to Maryn. Glaring at the dragon, Maryn stalked over to the blanket, whipped it up into her arms, and marched to the edge of the camp, away from even Morna. "Thanks," she said to Jamie over her shoulder. Morna watched her rider carefully, feeling slightly bad for her shouting. Releasing a gruff snort, she responded to Elu.
I hatched a year and eleven months ago. I will be two years in a month. Glancing back at Maryn, she attempted to speak to her rider. However, she was surprised to find her rider's mind blocked. As always, Maryn was taking it hard on herself. Excuse me for a moment she told Elu. Twisting her body around carefully, she approached her rider. Behind her head down, she nudged Maryn's shoulder. The rider shrugged, the muttered, "Stop Morna. You'll distract me from keeping watch." Morna exhaled loudly, ruffling Maryn's hair. Folding her legs, the dragon collapsed beside her rider, laying her head on the ground. She watched Maryn with one amethyst eye. After a moment, Maryn finally looked at her, her mind now open. Thats better. Morna said, blinking. I'm sorry I shouted. But you were being very unreasonable. Maryn bowed her head.
I know. I just can't help it. A deep hum began to resonate in Morna's chest, and the dragon wrapped her tail around the girl. We will keep watch together. Morna twisted her head around to look at Elu. I am glad you, Elu. It is nice having another dragon around.

Jamie was wondering what on earth was happening to the other rider. But she didn't ask because she didn't want to intrude on something that wasn't hers to know.
"Your welcome." said Jamie who laid by Elu who was humming with happiness and she knew that he was happy to be with his own kind for once.
"about two. I am turning three in two months. Not bad. I agree its been hard not seeing those of my own kind but then again I am happy to have a rider and then meeting you." said elu.
"Are you truly happy Elu? I mean with me? I was just thinking you seem happier with Morna." said Jamie.
"I am happy to see morna. But see here Jamie when I am most happy is when I am with you. Nothing can change that not even if it was another dragon for I am happiest when I am with you because you are my family, my friend, and my rider and nothing in the world could take the place of you." said Elu.
"Do you really mean that Elu? I mean I am always happiest when I am with you too and I don't know what I would do without you." said Jamie.
"Yes I do mean everything I say Jamie. Now get some rest." said Elu. Then Jamie fell asleep.

Morna nodded. That would explain the other dragons larger size. I see. she told Elu. Your rider is very generous to Maryn. Most people have difficulty dealing with her becaue she is always so serious. I worry about her sometimes, as she has no real friends. Morna laid her large head upon the grassy ground, her eyes resting on Elu. His white scales shone in the moonlight, and it reminded Morna of some beautiful phantom.
Maryn leaned against Morna's purple side, positioning herself more comfortably. The dragon's scales were warm from the fire that burned within, and with the blanket wrapped around her shoulders, she found herself in a very relaxed state. When she felt like she might be in danger of falling asleep, Maryn sat forward, away from Morna, and let the blanket slip down. The cool night air always helped to wake her up.
